About the Artist
Patrick “Rico” Williams is a translator of experiences. As a writer and multimedia artist, Rico uses wit, humor, and irony to highlight the necessity of social values like compassion, empathy, education and advocacy. A rebel with many causes, he centers his artistry in activism, using storytelling as a means to create shared language for public good. With two books in his repertoire (I Have These Words Fam, and Jesus Is Black), and one on the horizon (The Tweets I Twote), podcast production and photography extend the reach of his storytelling. He uses every possible medium to further the audience’s access to in-depth, intimate perspectives of his life as both an Immigrant From Jamaica, and a resident Hartford. Rico celebrates the healing power of creativity and continues to curate communal art spaces where people feel free, seen, accepted, and safe, by every means necessary.
