Aariyan Googe
New Britain Museum of American Art
Ms. Googe spent the first few years of her childhood on the South end of Hartford. It is here amongst the sights and sounds of the city where Aariyan developed her love of photography. Unconventional is the best way to describe her, from the spelling of her name to the manner in which she displays her art. While she enjoys hanging her photos in a frame on the wall, she prefers more unique ways of displaying her art. This is where her specialty comes into play. Aariyan taught herself how to make handmade photo transfers using her original photographs and began turning furniture that she refurbishes into functional art; housewares, and streetwear ranging from bistro sets to earrings.
Aariyan has been taking pictures since the age of seven when she was gifted her first camera by her inspiration, her father. She has rarely been seen without a camera since, thus allowing passion and experience to be her teachers; for she is a self-taught photographer and mixed media artist. Her wall art can be described as sculptures because most of them are three dimensional and often interactive. Ms. Googe welcomes all opportunities to use her art to positively bring about change, as well as give back to her community. She believes that artists have a responsibility to use their voices to help those who haven’t been heard. She feels life through her camera lens and invites you to share in this with her. Her goal is to stir your soul through your eyes with her art, hence the name of her art studio Feel Through Your Eyes Photography where she creates most of her art.
Before becoming an artist, Aariyan worked with children as a child development and behavioral specialist for over 20 years. It is at this point in her life, she has decided to combine her skills with her experience and assist others in cultivating healthy habits for obtaining wellness.
